Top non-topic tips for CAE exam takers

I took the exam in 2007 after participating in the Michigan SAE virtual study course. The course was great for getting me through all the domains and nailing down the important stuff BUT I found the non-topic knowledge about time management, test structure, and other things that help to create the right frame of mind going in.

I dont know much about the new structure of the exam, but I remember a great piece of advice Ben Martin offered on his CAE blog for the old version: he recommended looking at each question through the mind of a 60 year old white male. And it worked! Well, at least for me it did.

Anyone else got things they can offer?

I'd add "look through the mind of a computer."

At least when I took it, there were some questions where, in the real world of all kinds of contexts and variations and grey instead of black and white, the right answer might vary.

This is a knowledge test and not a judgment test, so don't lose time thinking of the optimal solution in the real world--you've got only the multiple choice answers to pick from.
