I just sent this blast:
Dear all,
Lindy and I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a HUGE
YAPpy THANK YO
U
to all of you for being part of our YAP community.
Thanks also to our YAP Connectors, those of you who have helped us welcome newbies and make this such a friendly place to be. And of course, thank you to our SuperFans, who support us and give us booze money and help us host such awesome parties.
Did you know we’re almost one year old? And what a year it has been!!
We’ve done some amazing things together here. We’ve created a safe place for people to get to know each other, to make friends, to find professional contacts, to play in our blog sandbox, to find jobs, to host YAPpy hours and spread the word about their association events, to chat about interesting topics, to study for the CAE together, to generally have some fun and make lifelong connections. We’re just amazed and so grateful to have such a totally AWESOME group to hang out with.
We really hope most of you can make it to our
YAPs in SPACE
party, which is on the Tuesday night of the ASAE Technology Conference here in DC where we will be celebrating our
one year birthday
.
If you can’t make it, we want you to party for us wherever you are! We are not legendary for nothing… : )
Couple of things to look forward to:
Speaking of not being in DC, you may have noticed we have a new YAP GROUPS feature on our site. We created a little DC group so we stop boring everyone else with DC-specific stuff, and we want YOU to create local groups for yourselves too, so you can more easily connect with others who are local to you. Technology enables community!
The other thing I wanted to let you know is that for next year, (like in a few weeks), now that I have gone through the heinous process that is studying for the CAE, I have a personal mission to develop the CAE study group area into something amazing that continues to really help people going through that. I want to build up our relationships with people who have their CAE’s and might be willing to be advisors, I want to set up scheduled chat room chats, I want to have an ongoing open dialogue with the ASAE CAE candidate site, etc. It worked great this time round, in its infancy, and I think every time we do it it will get better and better, so I need your feedback as we go
along and I need you to tell anyone you know who is planning on taking the exam that this study “area” is for them. Please help me spread the word about that.
That’s about it for now!! We hope you have a truly magical, YAPtastic holiday season, and a great New Year 2009 – which will be the BEST.YEAR.EVER, we promise!
Tons of love and hugs to all of you. Stay eternally beta!
xx
